The name of the village comes from the bowl-shaped plains around it. Most of the people living in the village are Thessaloniki immigrants. There are cemeteries from the Byzantine period in the village. It is 15 km away from Süleymanpaşa.  Economy of the village is based on agriculture and husbandry. Recently, almond and walnut cultivation has started with private reforestation, and cherry orchards have been established in certain parts of the village. The village has not got a secondary school, PTT branch, a health center, and sewerage system but it has water supply. The road that provides access to the village is asphalt and there is electricity and landline in the village. The population in 2019 is 117.
